Event Details

Investing in Future Transport is a high level conference which takes place on 16 August at City Hall, London. The conference, which incorporates the FUTURE TRANSPORT CHALLENGE, will showcase innovation in transport and highlight investment opportunities in the sector. The conference will be chaired by journalist and TV presenter, Quentin Willson and the event is supported by the Mayor of London.

Network with investors and transport industry professionals in the surroundings of City Hall - London's Parliament building - and hear from speakers including:

Dr Graham Cooley - CEO, ITM Power
Patrick Head - Co-founder, Williams Formula 1
Dr Dominic Emery - Chief Development Officer, BP Alternative Energy
Javier de Rocafort - Chairman, Quimera Project
Andreas Schamel - MD, Ford European Research Center
Norman Baker MP - Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport
Dr Peter Bonfield - Chief Executive, BRE

The conference will set the scene for the transport fuels of the future. The FUTURE FUELS session will assess the investment opportunities arising in new transport fuels such as hydrogen and advanced biofuels - and also in more efficient fossil fuels, through enhanced fuel efficiencies.

A key focus will be the investment opportunities emerging through innovation in engineering. The FUTURE ENGINEERING session will focus on innovations to improve the efficiency of vehicles and fuel economy and pave the way towards lower carbon transportion.

Taking place during the 2012 Olympics season (after the Olympic Games; before the Paralympics), city transport will be a topical issue. The investment opportunities in city infrastructure - in particular charging infrastructure for electric vehicles - will be the subject of the CITY TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE session.

The London 2012 Olympics take place after Beijing (2008) and ahead of Rio de Janeiro (2016) - burgeoning cities in fast growing 'bric' economies which have their own acute transport challenges, but also opportunities for investors and for trade - to be discussed in the FUTURE MARKETS session.

Motor sports are hotbeds of innovation in the UK. INNOVATION IN MOTOR SPORT is a special session will look at new technologies in fields such as fuel efficiency emerging from sports like Formula 1 racing. It will also review the role of dedicated 'zero emissions' racing events.
